Assembly & Maintenance Questions

2️⃣ What are the maintenance requirements?
2️⃣ What are the maintenance requirements?
Legend Fitness produces the highest caliber of commercial grade strength equipment in the world, making it very easy to maintain. Typical maintenance includes:
- Cables & Pulleys: Cables and pulleys are wear items that require regular inspection. Check cables for cracks, kinks, or ballooning, especially near pulleys, and inspect cable end fittings. Damaged cables can lead to injury, so replace them immediately if wear is detected. Pulleys should also be checked for surface damage, cracks, or faulty bearings. Excessive noise or vibration indicates a bad pulley. If any issues are found, stop using the machine and replace the damaged parts.
- Frames: Inspect frames for cracks, corrosion, or rust. If any issues are found, remove the machine from service and contact a qualified fitness equipment technician.
- Upholstery: Upholstery, like cables, wears with use and should be inspected for tears, rips, and cracks. While worn upholstery doesn’t require taking a machine out of service, it should be replaced to prevent bacteria buildup or potential scratches to users.
3️⃣ How do I keep my equipment clean?
3️⃣ How do I keep my equipment clean?
The high quality materials and craftsmanship used to produce Legend Fitness strength makes cleaning the equipment very simple. This includes:
- Cables & Fasteners: Check and adjust cable tension as needed at the movement arm. Ensure all nuts, bolts, and fasteners are tight. If tightening is required, apply Loctite Threadlocker 242 for added security.
- Frames: Polish frames as needed with automotive or non-appliance wax to protect against corrosive fluids. Avoid harsh cleaners, chemicals, or abrasive materials.
- Upholstery: Clean upholstery with a standard vinyl upholstery cleaner or lanolin-based hand cleaner to maintain its flexibility and prevent cracking. To restore shine, spray lightly with furniture wax, wait 30 seconds, and wipe with a clean white cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and colored cloths that may transfer dye.
- Guide Rods & Weight Stacks: Clean guide rods weekly by wiping off dust and dirt with a soft, dry cloth, then applying a silicone-based lubricant. Avoid oil-based lubricants, except WD-40. Weight stacks should also be wiped down and inspected for chips, which can be touched up with matte black paint or a permanent marker. For light rust, use WD-40 on a clean cloth. If you notice cracks or damage to the weights, place an “Out of Order” sign on the machine and contact us for a replacement.
- Bearings: Linear bearing shafts must be regularly cleaned and lubricated for optimal performance. Check for rust and remove it with fine sandpaper or steel wool before cleaning. Wipe down the shafts with a clean, dry cloth to remove debris, then apply a thin layer of silicone-based spray lubricant or WD-40 using a cloth. Avoid over-applying, as excess lubricant can attract grime. Sealed bearing pivot points don't need lubrication but should be wiped with a dry cloth to remove dust. Ensure smooth movement during inspection.
