Summary

The ECORE Straight Edge Transition is the finish piece for any spot where a Performance rubber or RageTurf surface stops and a lower floor begins. Each piece measures 48" long by 4-3/4" wide by 3/4" high, and the profile does two jobs at once: a thin flexible lip laps over the top of the flooring while the long tapered face falls away to the subfloor. The result is a continuous, low-angle edge that feet, loaded sleds, and equipment casters can cross without catching.

Sizing is driven by the lip rather than the overall height. ECORE builds this transition for its Performance Rally and RageTurf Rally surfaces, and lists it as a compatible accessory across the Performance line, which puts its practical working range at roughly 10.5 mm to 14.5 mm of floor thickness. That span covers Performance Beast at 10.5 mm, Performance Motivate Plus at 10.5 mm, RageTurf Rally interlocking tile at 12 mm, and both Performance Rally and Beast Plus at 14.5 mm. Because the rubber is flexible rather than rigid, it also absorbs the small height differences that real subfloors produce once it is bonded down.

Construction is the same vulcanized composition rubber ECORE uses across its athletic flooring, manufactured in Lancaster, Pennsylvania from recycled reclaimed rubber. That gives the transition the same resistance to scuffing, compression, and long-term breakdown as the floor it protects, so the edge does not fail before the field does. It is supplied in a single solid black finish with a low sheen, which reads as a deliberate border against both black and colored flooring, and it is fully recyclable at end of life.

Installation is a straightforward glue-down. The transition is bonded with ECORE E-Grip III Adhesive over a clean, dry, level subfloor, and it cuts to length on site with a straightedge and a sharp utility knife, which makes fitting around door casings, columns, and equipment bases simple. One piece finishes 4 linear feet of edge, so a run is a matter of dividing total edge length by four and rounding up.

This is a non-ADA edge treatment, chosen when the goal is a clean, safe, durable termination rather than a code-compliant accessible ramp. Where accessibility is required, ECORE builds a dedicated ADA Ramp, and for thicker paver and tile systems the wider 1", 2.25", and 4.5" reducers are the correct choice. For finishing a Performance or RageTurf floor at its perimeter, this transition is the piece that makes the installation look finished and keeps the edge intact.

Frequently Asked Questions

It suits ECORE Performance surfaces roughly 10.5 mm to 14.5 mm thick, including Performance Rally and Performance Beast.

The number that matters is the floor thickness the lip has to lap over, not the 3/4" overall height of the strip. ECORE builds this transition specifically for Performance Rally and RageTurf Rally, and lists it as a compatible accessory across the Performance line, which puts the working range at about 10.5 mm to 14.5 mm. Because the profile is flexible rather than rigid, it conforms to small variations once it is bonded down, so a floor that measures slightly over or under nominal still finishes cleanly. If your floor is materially thicker than that, the correct part is one of ECORE's taller reducers in 1", 2.25", or 4.5" rather than this transition.

  • Performance Beast, 10.5 mm
  • Performance Motivate Plus, 10.5 mm
  • RageTurf Rally interlocking tile, 12 mm
  • Performance Rally, 14.5 mm
  • Performance Beast Plus, 14.5 mm

Yes. This is a glue-down accessory and ECORE specifies E-Grip III Adhesive.

The Straight Edge Transition is not a loose-lay or interlocking part; adhesive is required, and it is what makes the thin lip sit flat instead of curling up under traffic. ECORE specifies E-Grip III, which we stock in both a 28 oz cartridge for short runs and a 4 gallon pail for full perimeters. Spread it with a 1/8" square-notch trowel and only lay out as much as you can cover in about 30 minutes. Bond the tapered face to the subfloor first, then roll the lip down onto the floor surface and press along the whole length so both surfaces make full contact. Wipe any squeeze-out with acetone before it cures.

  • ECORE E-Grip III Adhesive is required
  • 1/8" square-notch trowel
  • 30 minute working time per spread
  • Clean squeeze-out with acetone before cure
  • Cartridge for short runs, 4 gal pail for perimeters

Each piece finishes 4 linear feet of edge, so divide your total exposed edge length by four and round up.

Measure every run of floor edge that will be left exposed once the field is down, add those runs together, and divide by four. Round up to the next whole piece, and add one spare on any job with corners or obstructions, because the offcuts from mitering around a door casing or column are rarely reusable. Only exposed edges need a transition: any edge that dies into a wall, a curb, or another floor of equal height does not. On a rectangular room where one side meets a wall, that usually means you are buying for three sides rather than four.

  • 48" of finished edge per piece
  • Total exposed edge in feet, divided by 4
  • Round up to the next whole piece
  • Add 1 spare when the run has corners
  • Edges that die into a wall need no transition

No. ECORE classifies straight edge transitions and reducers as non-ADA parts; the ADA Ramp is a separate product.

This transition is an edge finisher, chosen when the goal is a clean, safe, durable termination of the flooring rather than a code-compliant accessible route. ECORE is explicit that its transitions and reducers are for non-ADA required applications, and it manufactures a dedicated ADA Ramp for locations where accessibility compliance is required. If the edge falls on an accessible route, or you are unsure whether it does, treat that as a question for your architect or code official rather than a product choice. Give us a call and we can quote the ADA Ramp instead.

  • Non-ADA edge treatment
  • ECORE builds a separate ADA Ramp for compliant routes
  • Confirm accessible routes with your code official
  • We can quote the ADA Ramp on request

Yes. It trims cleanly on site with a straightedge and a sharp utility knife.

This is one of the practical advantages the thin profile has over ECORE's heavier reducers, which need a jigsaw or bandsaw. Score the top face against a straightedge in two or three passes with a fresh blade rather than trying to force a single cut, and the rubber parts without tearing or leaving a ragged edge. Outside and inside corners are handled by mitering two pieces at 45 degrees and butting them, which reads as a continuous edge once the adhesive is down. Cut slightly long and trim to fit; the profile compresses very little, so a piece cut short will leave a visible gap.

  • Straightedge plus a sharp utility knife
  • Score in 2 to 3 passes, do not force one cut
  • Miter at 45 degrees for corners
  • Cut long and trim, it will not stretch to fit

Four years commercial, per ECORE's published accessories warranty schedule.

ECORE warrants its accessories against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship, and its warranty guide assigns straight edge transitions a 4-year term. That is a term specific to this class of part and differs from the surrounding flooring, so a Performance Rally floor carrying a 10-year warranty is not extending that coverage to the transition strip. The warranty excludes the usual installation and abuse categories, including damage from improper installation, cuts, tears, rolling load damage, and cleaning products ECORE does not recommend. Blue Sky handles any claim on your behalf directly with ECORE, so you deal with us rather than chasing the manufacturer.

  • 4-year commercial warranty
  • Covers manufacturing defects in material and workmanship
  • Separate term from the flooring it is installed against
  • Excludes improper installation, cuts, tears and rolling load damage
  • Blue Sky files and manages the claim for you

Yes. ECORE lists it for both Performance Rally rubber and RageTurf Rally turf, and it suits any turf in the same thickness range.

The transition is specified for both surfaces, which is convenient on the very common layout where a turf lane runs alongside a rubber field and both need finishing at the same perimeter. The governing rule is thickness rather than surface type, so any ECORE turf that lands in the same 10.5 mm to 14.5 mm band finishes with this part, while thicker turf systems such as RageTurf UltraTile at 25 mm and RageTurf dBTile at 63.5 mm need one of the taller reducers instead. With interlocking turf tile there is one extra step: the connector tabs along the exposed edge have to be trimmed off first so the tile presents a clean straight edge for the lip to lap over. Rolled goods need no such preparation, since the roll edge is already straight. If you are unsure which part your turf takes, call us with the product name and we will confirm it.

  • Specified for Performance Rally and RageTurf Rally
  • Any turf in the 10.5 to 14.5 mm range works
  • RageTurf UltraTile at 25 mm needs a taller reducer
  • Trim interlocking tile connector tabs flush first
  • Rolled goods need no edge preparation

It is the thinnest of the three: a low-profile edge finisher for 10.5 mm to 14.5 mm floors rather than a ramp for thick systems.

ECORE builds three distinct families for floor edges and they are not interchangeable. Straight edge transitions, this part, are thin and flexible and finish the perimeter of Performance and RageTurf surfaces. Reducers are heavier rigid ramps sized to much thicker systems and come in 1", 2.25", and 4.5" heights for tile and paver installations. The ADA Ramp is a wide, shallow-slope part built specifically to meet accessibility requirements. Matching the part to your floor thickness is what determines whether the finished edge sits flush, so measure the installed floor before ordering.

  • Straight edge transition: 3/4" tall, for 10.5 to 14.5 mm floors
  • Reducers: 1", 2.25" and 4.5", for thicker tile and paver systems
  • ADA Ramp: wide shallow slope for accessible routes
  • Measure the installed floor thickness before ordering
