Rubber Flooring for Outdoor Fitness & Equestrian Spaces

UV-Stable PaveSafe Pavers & Stall Mats — Weather-Rated, Hose-Down Cleanable, Hoof-Grip Tested

5.0 (10 ECORE reviews)

Two adjacent buyer worlds, one product family. Outdoor commercial fitness operators — parks & rec departments, agility-park developers, military PFT pads, urban-fitness parklets, outdoor CrossFit boxes — choose ECORE PaveSafe pavers for UV-stable, freeze-thaw-rated traction over a permeable substrate. Equestrian operators — stable owners, equine therapy clinics, vet exam facilities, competition venues — choose the same recycled-rubber product family for barn aisles, wash bays, stall mats, and trailer-loading ramps where hoof-grip slip resistance and hose-down cleanability decide the spec. Made in USA, authorized ECORE Athletic dealer, freight included on the quote, lead estimates listed on every quote.

12 ECORE Products for Outdoor & Equestrian

An outdoor PT pad and a barn aisle aren't the same project — but the product family is. PaveSafe pavers (1" and 1-3/4" thick, UV-stable, drainage-friendly across a permeable substrate) anchor outdoor commercial fitness installs, agility-park pads, military PFT zones, and barn aisles where wash-down cleanability decides the spec. Plus PlayGuard tiles for playground transitions, edge reducers and connectors for clean transitions, and ECORE-approved cleaners for hose-down maintenance. Vulcanized recycled-rubber, manufactured in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, warranty-backed through Blue Sky Fitness Supply as your authorized ECORE dealer.

8 FAQs Every Outdoor & Equestrian Buyer Asks

PaveSafe pavers are formulated for sustained outdoor exposure including UV and freeze-thaw cycling. The vulcanized recycled-rubber compound uses a UV-stable binder rather than the petroleum-based binder common to imported tire-crumb tiles — that's the binder that breaks down first under prolonged sun and seasonal temperature swings, which is why so many cheap outdoor rubber installs fade and crack within a year or two.

For northern freeze-thaw zones, PaveSafe pavers are typically dry-laid over a permeable aggregate substrate so meltwater drains through rather than pooling under the floor. The same compound carries ECORE's outdoor warranty in coastal salt-air and southern UV-heavy environments. Your Commercial Fitness Advisor will spec the right thickness — 1" or 1-3/4" — based on your climate, drainage, and impact load. Free samples ship FedEx Ground (~1 week) so you can validate color and surface texture in the actual install location before locking the spec.

PaveSafe pavers are typically installed over a compacted permeable substrate — not directly over concrete or sealed asphalt. The standard outdoor build is a compacted aggregate base (3/4" or smaller crushed stone), screeded level, with the pavers dry-laid on top. This gives you drainage, freeze-thaw forgiveness, and easy lift-and-replace serviceability — important for both outdoor commercial-fitness installs and barn aisles where a single damaged paver shouldn't trigger a full re-floor.

Direct-to-concrete adhered installs are possible for certain commercial applications using ECORE E-Grip III adhesive — your Commercial Fitness Advisor will flag whether your project is a candidate on the quote.

  • Outdoor PFT pad / agility park: 4-6" compacted aggregate base plus 1-3/4" PaveSafe pavers
  • Outdoor weight-training pad with heavy drops: 1-3/4" pavers minimum, sometimes double-layered
  • Barn aisle / cross-tie / wash-bay perimeter: 1" or 1-3/4" pavers depending on traffic and drainage need
  • Playground transition: PlayGuard tiles for the impact-rated zone with a paver perimeter
  • Urban parklet / parks-and-rec: 1" pavers over compacted base where impact loading is moderate

Vulcanized recycled-rubber gives you a textured, non-slick surface that horses read confidently underfoot — barn aisles, cross-tie areas, wash-bay perimeters, vet exam pads, and trailer-loading ramps where a slip can injure both horse and handler. ECORE Athletic publishes surface-friction data for the rubber compound used across the PaveSafe and stall-mat lines. The underlying impact-attenuation physics for shod equine loads — the spec governing how much hoof-strike energy the floor absorbs vs sends back into the joint — is governed by ASTM F355 (G-Max impact attenuation via Clegg-machine protocol). For barn fixtures sitting on the floor for the life of the install (cross-tie posts, wash-bay equipment racks, feed-room shelving, outdoor PT-pad equipment frames), the static-load standard is ASTM F970.

Compare with concrete (slick when wet, hard on hooves and joints), interlocking foam (compresses too much under shod weight), and cheap imported tire-crumb mats (binder breaks down, surface gets slick after a year of wash-downs). PaveSafe pavers and ECORE stall mats are the right call when slip-resistance and hoof comfort both matter — and the same compound serves outdoor PT pads where users are in turn-out gear, agility footwear, or military boots when the surface is wet.

The vulcanized rubber compound is hose-down cleanable and stands up to daily wash-bay use. No binder breakdown, no styrene off-gassing, no slick film building up on the surface — three of the most common failure modes for cheap imported tire-crumb in equine settings. Clean with ECORE E-Cleaner for stubborn residue; otherwise plain water and a stiff brush.

For wash bays specifically, slope the substrate to your floor drain before laying pavers — the gaps between pavers carry water to the drain naturally. For trailer-loading ramps, the 1-3/4" PaveSafe paver with edge reducers gives horses a clean transition from trailer ramp to barn floor without a tripping lip. The same logic applies to outdoor cardio or agility pads where rinse-down between sessions is part of operations.

Standard PaveSafe pavers and stall mats run 4-6 weeks; custom-color and water-jet inlay work runs 5-7 weeks. Lead estimates are listed on every quote, and we sequence your install date against ECORE's production schedule before you sign the PO so the floor lands ahead of your parks-department open date or barn-renovation window. Quicker 1-3 day options exist depending on location, quantity, and color selection — call to discuss.

Freight is included as a line item on every quote (LTL with liftgate by default). If your facility has a forklift or loading dock, we'll quote a no-liftgate option to save you money. Install services are available on request as a separate line item on the bundle. Compare to a major commercial-flooring competitor whose actual policy text reads: 'All equipment lead times and delivery dates given are approximates ONLY' — not a commitment a parks-and-rec opening or a competition-venue install can rely on.

Every ECORE Athletic product is manufactured in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The Lancaster address appears on every Technical Data Sheet, and the manufacturing process is Buy American Act and BABA (Build America, Buy America) compliant.

Buy American Act preferences and BABA requirements apply to most federally-funded municipal and military purchases — outdoor-fitness equipment grants, parks-and-rec capital projects, and military Facilities Management PT-pad installs. Made-in-USA is the single strongest compliance signal on a quote, and it eliminates the disqualifying-warning issues that imported recycled-tire-crumb competitors carry (e.g., California Prop 65 styrene warnings). Buy American documentation is obtainable from ECORE on request — your Commercial Fitness Advisor will route the request as part of the quote.

PaveSafe products (Pavers, PaverTile, Big E Tile) carry a 5-year manufacturer warranty for outdoor use, including UV exposure and freeze-thaw cycling. That's different from the indoor Performance roll lines (Rally, Beast, Beast Plus, Monster, Modzilla, UltraTile — 10 years prorated, indoor athletic use). Outdoor-rated warranty coverage is one of the reasons to spec PaveSafe over a generic rubber tile for parklet, agility-park, or barn-aisle use.

Other warranty notes for this vertical: FlexTurf Monster carries 10 years and FierceTurf Monster carries 10 years prorated for synthetic-turf zones; FlexTurf Motivate and RageTurf Motivate carry 5 years; PlayGuard playground tiles carry 10 years prorated. Specific PaveSafe exclusions: petroleum or solvent exposure (e.g., dripping engine oil), vehicle-tire damage from sustained drive-on use, and use outside the spec'd application. The original ECORE Warranty Guide (effective 8/1/2022, original purchaser) governs. If a claim ever comes up, you come to Blue Sky first and we handle ECORE on your behalf — no 'we'll refer you to the manufacturer' runaround.

Yes — ECORE supports custom-color paver runs and water-jet-cut inlaid logos for branded installs. Common requests: barn colors (forest green, burgundy, navy) for stable branding, municipal palette matches for parks-and-rec installs, and unit insignia for military PFT pads. There's no minimum order on water-jet inlay work, and the per-unit price drops as quantity increases.

Custom-color and water-jet-inlay orders run 5-7 weeks (vs the 4-6 standard) and require a clean vector file (.AI / .EPS / .SVG) for any logo. Send the design intent and your Commercial Fitness Advisor will route it through ECORE production. Important: custom-color and custom-inlay orders are non-returnable, so we'll lock the file and confirm proofs in writing before production starts.

3 Pain Points for Outdoor & Equestrian Buyers

Public reviews of commercial flooring vendors show consistent failure modes — missed lead times, restocking-fee disputes on vendor errors, and warranty deflection from non-authorized resellers. These are universal across every commercial flooring vertical we serve, and the failure modes authorized-dealer status protects against.

  • On lead times

“Placed an order 11/19 that was supposed to ship 11/24-12/8. As of 12/13, it still hasn't shipped. This is for a commercial gym and the installer has us on his books starting tomorrow 12/14… Our new gym opens Jan 1 and we still don't have flooring! I of course can't get anyone on the phone.”

  • On vendor mistakes

“They sent me the wrong product, gave me 'you have to pay for shipping and a 25 percent restocking fee' for THEIR mistake, said this was a courtesy, and then claimed a clearly wrong order confirmation… that they sent me was part of a banner ad.”

    Institutional buyer

  • On warranty disputes

“We started using the gym and noticed sharp metal pieces coming out of the flooring. We have pulled 19 twisted pieces of metal out of the flooring to date. They refuse to give me the manufacturer's name and after 2 months of back and forth, their solution was to tell me to apply a sealant. Laughable.”
